2,150+ Companies. 81 Categories. 40 Countries.
There is a website that has quietly grown into one of the most useful resources for anyone looking for European tech solutions: European Tech Map. Founded as an independent project by Dante Emilio Grassi, the directory today counts more than 2,150 European tech companies across 81 categories and 40 countries.
Those are not small numbers. From endpoint security software in Berlin to AI platforms in Paris and cloud providers in Amsterdam — the European Tech Map charts the ecosystem Europe needs to achieve digital sovereignty. And it is still growing at pace.
The Numbers Speak for Themselves
The European Tech Map's statistics are impressive for an independent project. For comparison: our own directory at OurSoftware.eu is growing steadily too — from 116 tools in February to our current count. But the European Tech Map operates on a different scale entirely.

Particularly striking: the Cybersecurity category alone lists 128 European companies. That is no coincidence — given geopolitical tensions and European legislation around NIS2 and DORA, cybersecurity is the first step many organisations take toward digital independence. From endpoint protection to threat intelligence and SIEM platforms: Europe has the answers.

From AI to Finance: 81 Categories Deep
What makes the European Tech Map remarkable is the depth of its categorisation. The most popular categories reveal just how broad the European tech ecosystem has become:
- AI & Machine Learning — 133 companies (largest category)
- Cybersecurity — 128 companies
- Cloud Computing — 115 companies
- Productivity — 101 companies
- Accounting & Finance — 80 companies
- DevOps — 72 companies
But niche categories are well represented too: CleanTech (15), DeepTech (9), Calendar (9), and even Defence & Aerospace (15). This shows that Europe is not only active in traditional software markets, but also in the emerging sectors that will define the coming decades.
What OurSoftware.eu Adds to the Picture
At OurSoftware.eu, we complement the European Tech Map with a different lens. We focus specifically on ownership and origin: is the company not just based in Europe, but also owned by European parties? And where is data stored?
That distinction matters. A company headquartered in Amsterdam but owned by a US private equity firm falls outside our scope. We are not anti-American — we are pro-European sovereignty. For our directory, we verify: the country of incorporation, the founding year, the founders, the ownership structure, and whether data storage takes place within the EU.
Together, the European Tech Map and OurSoftware.eu offer a complete picture: the map for breadth and discovery, our directory for depth and verification.
Europe Is Building. Fast.
The narrative that Europe lags behind the US and China in tech is outdated. With over 2,150 companies active across every conceivable software category, Europe possesses an ecosystem powerful enough to replace every American SaaS tool — from email to ERP, from analytics to AI.
The European Tech Map makes that visible. And here at OurSoftware.eu we help you make the right choice within that ecosystem. Browse our categories or use the European Tech Map to explore what Europe has to offer.
