What is DoeDag?
Every first Sunday of the month, people across the Netherlands take action to become digitally independent from Big Tech. That is the idea behind DoeDag, a Dutch initiative that is deliberately low-threshold: you do not have to overhaul your entire digital life in one go. Pick one thing — your search engine, your mail, your browser, your cloud — and switch it this Sunday for an alternative that does not monetise your data.
To help you get started, the website offers a set of recipes: short, concise guides for finding alternatives to Big Tech services. No IT degree required — just do it.

The DoeDag dates 2026
DoeDag takes place on every first Sunday of the month. This year there have already been DoeDays on 3 May, 7 June, 5 July, 2 August, 6 September and 4 October. Upcoming dates:
- 1 November 2026 — the next DoeDay
- 6 December 2026 — the last one of the year

How do you join?
Joining is simple: use the recipes to pick an alternative for one Big Tech service you rely on, and switch it on the next DoeDay. Then tell your friends, family and colleagues about DoeDag and share your experiences on social media with the hashtag #Doei or #DoeiDag — inspiring others to leave Big Tech too.
